Children's SW - CIC Team - Suffolk
We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children in Care (CIC) team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people who are looked after, helping them to achieve stability, security and positive long-term outcomes.
You will manage a varied caseload of children in care and care leavers, ensuring that their needs are assessed, understood and responded to effectively. Your responsibilities will include completing statutory visits and reviews, developing and reviewing care plans, contributing to permanence planning, and supporting children to maintain safe and meaningful relationships with their families and wider networks.
You will work closely with foster carers, residential providers, schools, health professionals, independent reviewing officers and other partner agencies. The role will involve safeguarding children, identifying and managing risk, preparing reports, attending meetings and contributing to legal proceedings where required. You will also support young people as they prepare for adulthood, promoting independence, education, health and emotional wellbeing.
The successful candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You should have experience of working with children and families within a statutory social care setting, ideally with knowledge of children in care, care planning, safeguarding and relevant legislation and guidance. A sound understanding of relationship-based practice, trauma-informed approaches and the impact of adverse childhood experiences is essential.
You will be an excellent communicator who can build trusting relationships with children, young people, families and professionals. You should be organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate, timely records. A commitment to reflective practice, professional development and achieving the best possible outcomes for children is essential. The ability to travel to meet the needs of the role may also be required.
