Children's SW - CIC Team - Derbyshire
We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a specialist team supporting children in care and care leavers. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people by promoting their safety, stability, wellbeing and long-term outcomes.
You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, care planning and reviews in line with statutory requirements. You will work directly with children, young people, families, carers and partner agencies to understand individual needs, identify risks and agree effective plans. The role will involve preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, participating in meetings and ensuring that children’s voices are consistently heard and reflected in decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include undertaking statutory visits, contributing to permanence planning, supporting placement stability and helping children achieve positive transitions into adulthood. You will build constructive relationships with foster carers, residential providers, education, health and other professionals, while taking appropriate action to safeguard children and promote their welfare. You will also support young people to develop independence, access services and plan confidently for their future.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Experience of working with children in care, care leavers or within a statutory children’s services environment is essential. You should have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and corporate parenting responsibilities, together with the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
We are looking for a reflective, resilient and child-focused practitioner with strong communication and report-writing skills. You will be expected to work collaboratively, exercise professional judgement and contribute positively to team development. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required, depending on service needs. Derbyshire-qualified social work experience or equivalent local authority experience would be highly advantageous.
