An opportunity is available for a qualified Social Worker to join a dedicated Safeguarding Team in Hertfordshire. This role is suited to an experienced practitioner who is committed to protecting children and young people, promoting positive outcomes and working collaboratively with families and professionals.

You will manage a varied caseload involving children who may be at risk of abuse, neglect or harm. Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, undertaking statutory visits, preparing child protection plans and contributing to strategy discussions, conferences and legal proceedings where required. You will identify risk, make evidence-based decisions and ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all interventions.

Working closely with families, schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies, you will develop effective support plans and help ensure that safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly. You will maintain accurate, timely records and reports, meet relevant statutory timescales and contribute to a culture of reflective practice, continuous improvement and professional accountability.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. A sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, statutory children’s services procedures and relevant assessment frameworks is essential. You should have experience of working with children and families in a safeguarding or child protection setting, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and make confident professional judgements.

Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills are required, together with a strengths-based and child-centred approach. You will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. A valid driving licence and access to transport may be necessary for this position. Hertfordshire experience or familiarity with local safeguarding processes would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your practice within a supportive professional environment. Applications are welcomed from committed Social Workers who are passionate about improving the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
