We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Looked After Children (LAC) Team in Cheshire. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the needs and rights of children in care are met, providing oversight and support throughout their journey. You will work closely with social workers, children, and families to facilitate effective care planning and ensure that each child’s voice is heard and respected.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular reviews of care plans to ensure they are meeting the needs of the child.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to discuss and assess care arrangements.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided to looked after children.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidelines.
  • Advocating for children’s rights and promoting their welfare and best interests.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Substantial experience in child protection and working with looked after children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage caseloads efficiently.
