Cheshire West and Cheshire Central is seeking a dedicated and experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our Human Resources team on a temporary basis, with an attractive rate of £38.99 per hour (Umbrella). This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people within our local authority, and we are looking for an individual who is passionate about safeguarding and committed to promoting best practices in child protection.
As a LADO, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing allegations against individuals working with children, ensuring that all cases are handled in accordance with statutory guidance and local procedures. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organizations on allegations against staff.
- Managing and coordinating investigations into allegations, ensuring timely and thorough processes.
- Working collaboratively with statutory agencies, including police and social services, to safeguard children.
- Training and supporting local organizations on safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Monitoring and reviewing cases to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including a relevant degree in social work, education, or a related field, along with substantial experience in child protection or safeguarding roles. Additionally, you should have:
- A thorough understanding of child protection legislation and local safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in report writing and case documentation.
