As a Children’s IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting and chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that their needs and views are prioritized.

  • Providing guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the child's care.
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and stakeholders to promote positive outcomes.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and practices that enhance the care system.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in children’s social work, specifically in a managerial or reviewing capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
