Gateshead - Independent Reviewing Officer
Join our dedicated team in Gateshead as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) in the Qualified Social Work field. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that children and young people in care receive high-quality, person-centered reviews that promote their welfare and safeguard their rights. Your expertise will help shape the future of vulnerable children, making a significant impact in their lives.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices in line with local authority policies.
- Facilitating meetings and engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
- Monitoring progress and outcomes of care plans, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
- Providing guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care process.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A relevant Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Proven experience in child protection and safeguarding, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
- Strong analytical skills and a commitment to promoting the best interests of children and young people.
