Children's SW - LAC Team - Lewisham
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our Looked After Children (LAC) Team in Lewisham. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support and intervention to vulnerable children and young people in care.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Conducting assessments and developing care plans for children in the LAC system
- Working collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children
- Participating in case conferences, court proceedings, and reviews to advocate for the needs of children
- Providing emotional support and guidance to children and young people in challenging situations
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A recognized Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- Demonstrated experience working in a similar role, preferably within a LAC or children's services setting
- Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in complex situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families
- A commitment to continuous professional development and upholding the highest standards of social work practice
Additional requirements:
- Experience working with children who have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and the Care Planning Regulations
