Senior Practitioner - Child in Care - Birmingham
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner - Child in Care to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This pivotal role will involve working closely with children and families to ensure the best outcomes for those in care. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of children, developing care plans, and providing ongoing support to both children and foster families. As a Senior Practitioner, you will also mentor and supervise junior staff, ensuring high standards of social work practice are maintained.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of children’s needs and risks.
- Developing and implementing effective care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Providing direct support and guidance to children in care and their foster families.
- Monitoring and reviewing the progress of care plans and making necessary adjustments.
- Leading case discussions and contributing to strategic planning within the department.
- Ensuring compliance with local authority policies and legal requirements.
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- At least 3 years of post-qualifying experience in child protection or children in care.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
