Reference: 669759

We are seeking a committed Social Worker Assistant to support children, young people and families who may require additional help, protection or statutory intervention. Working as part of a dedicated children’s social care team, you will assist qualified social workers in assessing needs, coordinating support and promoting positive outcomes for children and their families.

Your responsibilities will include contributing to assessments, visits and reviews; gathering and recording information; preparing reports; and maintaining accurate, timely case records in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards. You will support the implementation and monitoring of care plans, communicate with children and families, and work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, education services and other partner agencies.

You will help ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings are heard and reflected in planning and decision-making. The role may involve supporting direct work with children and young people, attending meetings and court-related processes, identifying safeguarding concerns and escalating risks promptly to the appropriate qualified social worker or manager.

Applicants should have relevant experience of working with children, young people or families in a social care, education, health or community setting, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding, child development, confidentiality and information sharing. A relevant social care qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience is required; candidates undertaking, or holding, a recognised social work qualification and eligible for professional registration are particularly encouraged to apply.

You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, good organisational ability and confidence using electronic case management systems. The successful candidate will be compassionate, resilient and able to build respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team while managing priorities independently, responding sensitively to challenging situations and maintaining professional boundaries.

A commitment to equality, anti-discriminatory practice and continuous professional development is essential. Appropriate safeguarding and identity checks will be required before appointment, and the role may involve travel between work locations and visits to family homes or other settings.
