Reference: 669938

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a children and families service, supporting children subject to Child Protection and Children in Need plans. This is an opportunity for a qualified professional who is confident managing complex cases, safeguarding risk and multi-agency relationships, while ensuring children’s voices, welfare and outcomes remain central to practice.

You will hold and manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, planning and reviewing interventions, and undertaking statutory visits in line with legislation, policy and professional standards. You will work closely with children, parents, carers, schools, health professionals, the police and other partner agencies to identify need, reduce risk and promote positive change. Responsibilities will include preparing for and contributing to conferences, core groups, reviews and court proceedings, maintaining accurate records, and producing clear, analytical reports.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide advice and support to less experienced practitioners, contribute to reflective practice and help promote consistent, strengths-based safeguarding practice. You will be expected to manage competing priorities effectively, make sound professional judgements and escalate concerns appropriately. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, partnership working and continuous improvement is essential.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You should have substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, with demonstrable knowledge of Child Protection, Children in Need procedures, assessment frameworks and relevant safeguarding legislation. Experience of court work and care proceedings would be advantageous. You must be able to travel to undertake visits and attend meetings across the area, with access to suitable transport where required.

We are looking for a resilient, organised and compassionate professional who can work confidently in a demanding environment. In return, you will have access to professional development, regular supervision and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families.
