Children's SW - Family Help Team - Suffolk
An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a Family Help Team. You will work with children, young people and families who require additional support, helping them achieve positive and lasting change while ensuring their safety and wellbeing remain central to all interventions.
You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments and developing effective, child-centred plans with families and partner agencies. Your responsibilities will include identifying needs and risks, coordinating early help and statutory interventions, reviewing progress, and adapting support when circumstances change. You will be expected to build constructive relationships with children and families, listen to their views, and promote their participation in decisions that affect them.
The role will involve working collaboratively with education, health, early help, police and other professionals to provide coordinated support. You will contribute to safeguarding activity, respond appropriately to concerns, and ensure that children are protected from harm. Where required, you may undertake child protection work, contribute to legal planning and prepare clear, analytical reports for meetings and formal proceedings.
Accurate recording, sound professional judgement and effective time management are essential. You will maintain up-to-date case records, meet statutory timescales and demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation, guidance and best practice in children’s social care. The ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and make defensible decisions is important.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Experience of working with children and families, completing assessments and managing safeguarding concerns is desirable. We are looking for someone who is resilient, reflective and committed to strengths-based practice, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. A valid driving licence and access to transport may be required for visiting families across the area.
