Children's SSW - High Demand Team - Suffolk
We are seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a high-demand team supporting children, young people and their families across Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional who is committed to safeguarding, improving outcomes and ensuring that children’s voices remain central to all planning and decision-making.
You will manage a varied caseload involving children and young people with diverse needs, including those requiring support under child in need, child protection and care proceedings arrangements. Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, identifying risk, developing effective care plans and reviewing progress regularly. You will work closely with children, parents, carers, schools, health professionals, legal representatives and other partner agencies to coordinate timely and appropriate interventions.
The role will involve undertaking statutory visits, preparing clear and analytical reports, contributing to meetings and conferences, and maintaining accurate, comprehensive case records. You will be expected to respond confidently to complex or escalating situations, promote positive change and ensure that practice is consistent with legislation, policy and professional standards. Where required, you will also contribute to permanence planning and proceedings, including presenting information clearly to senior colleagues and the court.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You should have relevant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, including child protection and safeguarding practice, and a sound understanding of statutory frameworks and evidence-based social work methods. Experience of managing a demanding caseload, completing robust assessments and working effectively within multi-agency settings is essential.
You will need excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills, together with the resilience to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to reflective practice, continuous professional development and anti-discriminatory practice is expected. The ability to travel within the area and undertake statutory visits is also required. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working as part of a supportive and collaborative professional team.
