Independent Reviewing Officer - Cheshire West

Cheshire West is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that children and young people in care receive the highest standards of care and support. You will facilitate and lead reviews, ensuring that the voices of children, families, and professionals are heard and taken into account in planning and decision-making processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidelines.
  • Working collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to promote positive outcomes.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on safeguarding issues and care planning.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of children and young people, ensuring their voices are central to the review process.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in child protection and looked after children services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
